This video is maybe 3 weeks old now--Oscar changes so much every day! BUT, I just found it today when unloading the video camera, so here it is. As you know, we've been working on "tummy time" and O.K. certainly tries, especially when motivated by a colorful toy and a parent or two...

Late Thirties?
Is it possible? Can John really be 37? According to the calendar, it's happened. John has been pondering the transition from being able to say he is in his "mid-thirties" to having to say he is in his "late thirties". I think maybe he has one more year...
Birthday breakfast included coffee, warm cinnamon rolls, and fresh fruit. The celebration continued Friday at a cozy barbecue with a few friends out on our deck.

A great friend, Patrick, gave John an amazing birthday/Father's Day gift. The certificate above is good for a painted portrait of Oscar. Though it isn't my birthday, I feel like I'm getting a pretty sweet gift, too. You can check out Patrick's work under Patrick Crofton at Artists' House.

My First Camera
Just today I was sorting through some old things in one of my two "memory" boxes. I found a photo album of pictures I'd taken--probably between second and fifth grade. In the album there are pictures from school and camp, sleepovers and other friendly events. However, the pictures that I immediately felt the need to preserve (and of course, share) are of family. They also make me miss (a little) how picking up photos from the store used to be such a sweet surprise. Half the time you couldn't remember what you'd taken pictures of, and, unlike now, a great picture was mostly luck. I feel lucky to have taken (and now rediscovered) these.

Tummy Time
Oscar was evaluated last week and it was determined that he has a developmental delay in fine motor skills and cognitive skills related to arm and hand movement. We aren't worrying too much yet, but Oscar will begin physical therapy to help with the delay this Friday. In the meantime, we were told to increase "tummy time". Unfortunately, "tummy time" is not Oscar's favorite. He starts out okay...
but quickly
ends up like this.
