FOOD...

So I've seen babies eat food before. I've even seen pictures of babies eating their FIRST food. Of course, I've always been appropriately appreciative of the sweetness of it all, but it hasn't been until now, until I've seen OUR baby grow from this sweet and warm lump-of-baby to this little person who is doing new stuff all the time that I really appreciate how amazing each change and new experience really is. So, now I'm sharing O.K.'s first official food (Organic Rice Cereal in breast milk, by the way) with you. And if you've had your own warm lump-of-baby turn into a tiny wiggly eating person before, you'll know how cool it is.

YUM!

In Pursuit

O.K. has begun to take an active interest in Bone.

I admit I helped a little in the chase.

And Bone eventually agreed to a brief meeting, until...

Oscar started talking to her.

Third Date (and a "First" for Oscar)

John and I had another opportunity to head out into the world "on our own" yesterday thanks to our dear friends, Peggy and Art. How novel a "date" has become around here, and after a decade of going out fairly often and certainly whenever we pleased. At the same time, it amazes me that after only five months it feels strange to get out of the car sans diaper bag, without having to half-crawl into the backseat to unclip the hefty carseat, pull down the little sun-visor, and head out all together. Regardless of this, we were happy to leave O.K. in the capable arms of the Kaplans and head out to enjoy a carseat-less evening...

Oscar's first non-family babysitters AND his first time being "baby-sat" at someone else's house.

So we didn't go all high-class, so what? They were some tasty burgers, that's for sure...

Our post-Oscar dates have so far all included a movie at our now favorite "vintage" theater. We promise to branch out, but for now anyway, when we've had the chance, this has been our first choice.

Afterward, we stopped for a Guinness at an Irish Pub and, wouldn't you know, this cool thing was sitting in the basement. We also posed with one of our favorite local statues, but I'll save those pictures for another time...
